The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says…
claims in some sections of the media that about 1000 of its members in
Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State decamped to the All
Progressives Congress, APC, is a ruse, aimed at misleading the good
people of Ogoni and members of the party.
The party which made the clarification while reacting to media
reports that about 1000 of its members in Khana Local Government Area
of Rivers State moved to the APC said, “all our members in Khana and
other local government areas of Ogoni in Rivers State are intact,
unswerving and are truthful to the PDP in the State’’.
On Wednesday, October 1, 2014 members of the APC were gathered
together at the premises of the Khana Local Government Council and
N10,000 each was distributed to them through the office of the
Secretary to the Rivers State Government by the Chairman, Caretaker
Committee of Khana Local Government Area.
It was absolutely an APC way of celebrating Nigeria’s Independence and
in their usual gesticulation of pillaging Rivers tax payers’ money.
No member of the PDP attended the APC waste of tax payers’ money, as
it was meant for the few APC members who were left behind after the
mass defection of the APC members along with the former Chairman of
Khana Local Government Council, Hon Nwidam to the PDP.
The gathering was to persuade the few APC members left behind
following the defection of the former Khana Council Boss with all his
aides and over 5000 APC members, with entreaties and monetary
enticement of N10, 000 each, that they should not abandon Governor
Rotimi Amaechi and the APC.
The PDP hereby challenges anybody who claims its members defected to
the APC in Bori with proof of their names, wards and PDP membership
We wish to affirm the PDP’s resolve to take over power from Governor
Rotimi Amaechi and the APC in Rivers State and no amount of deception
by the APC would daunt our determination to take total control of
Rivers State from a group of bravadoes.
