•They are hunted by their misdeeds —PDP
As accusations and counter accusations trails the inspection of electoral materials used for August 9, governorship poll in Osun, the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, said the purported alarm raised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over the alleged discovery of fake 11,000 ballot papers at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office, was a hoax.
Describing the development as a joke and plot by the PDP to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public, APC argued that the opposition party was exploring dubious means to seek credibility for its petition against the victory of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
In a press statement issued by the APC’s director of publicity, research and strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, the party said “our attention has been drawn to the blatant falsehood being bandied around by PDP, claiming that 11,000 ballot papers have been discovered to be fake in the ongoing inspection of electoral documents at the INEC office, in Osogbo”.
Reacting, the publicity secretary of PDP in Osun, Prince Bola Ajao maintained that “we have not made any claim over the discovery of 11,000 fake ballot papers”, stressing that the “APC are being hunted by their misdeeds. The guilty shall always be afraid”.
According to him, “there is avalanche of evidence showing large scale irregularities and incontrovertible facts that the APC did not win the August 9 governorship poll fair and square. That is the main reason why we have a petition at the election tribunal.”
But, the APC affirmed that “the phantom claim of discovery of fake ballot papers is a product of hallucinating minds of dishonorable persons who have no regard for truth and integrity of the judicial process”, saying that “our team of inspectors were also on ground inspecting electoral materials and contrary to PDP’s falsehood, at no time did any PDP representative raised the issue that any ballot paper was fake.
