THE Ijaw National Leader, Edwin Clark, has posited that the next governor of Delta State must be truthful, transparent, courageous and knowledgeable enough to govern peacefully.
Speaking in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area of the state when Ifeanyi Okowa, a gubernatorial aspirant, visited hi, he said Deltans would be allowed to choose who becomes their governor.
While assuring that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would conduct transparent primaries for all elective position in the country, he assured Okowa that the era of imposition and endorsement is over.
He asked Okowa, a senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, to go to the field to sell his candidacy, just as he described the aspirant as being “immensely qualified”, saying Delta State is interested in a person who is truthful, transparent, courageous and knowledgeable enough to govern peacefully.
Earlier, Okowa said with the level the state has attained in infrastructural development, a person with a reasonable level of experience should succeed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, saying his long service in government has equipped him with the requisite experience and exposure to lead Delta State to lofty heights.
He said he has plans to run an inclusive government through advice and input from people like Clark for the state to actualise its full economic potentials.
Okowa disclosed that his administration come 2015 would place premium on technical education, agriculture, urban renewal, agro industrial parks, enhanced micro credit scheme, universal and health insurance scheme for the good of the state.
