*Five Councils declared inconclusive
After hours of negotiation with the Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Almakura, the chairman of Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission, Umar Modibbo has annonced the results in eight local councils.
In the results officially declared on Sunday night, APC won in four councils, while PDP won in four councils.
The results according to the embattled Electoral Commission chairman were inconclusive in five councils.
From the official results, APC Won in Karu, Awe, Doma and Lafia councils respectively. PDP: Nasarawa Eggon, Keffi,Keana and Kokona.
The chairman earlier in the press conference confirmed that PDP won in Akwanga LGA, only to renege and declare the council inconclusive.
PDP leaders insist that they clearly won in nine local councils of the state and lost in four. A PDP chieftain at the official declaration of the result stated that the people of Nasarawa are tired of propaganda and will vote out Almakura in 2015.
According to him: “If not for the threats by the Governor, the results were clear. He lost woefully. They forced the Electoral Commissioner to mitigate the electoral diasater. We shall publish our results obtained from the affected electoral returning officers, duly signed by party agents. This electoral fraud must not go unpunished”.
APC leaders and agents at the official declaration of results celebrated their fortune. This is because photocopies of results had been earlier distributed by PDP members.
