A governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State on the platform of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Robert Umoette, has called on well-meaning Nigerians to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformation agenda, stressing that his endorsement by PDP’s Board of Trustees and PDP’s Governors Forum headed by Chief Godswill Akpabio, was good for democracy and policy of continuity.
Umoette, who addressed newsmen in Lagos, explained that Jonathan’s endorsement for a second term was democratically acceptable and would allow the economic policies of the current administration, especially in agriculture, aviation, power and job creation to yield the desired result in the long-run.
“Jonathan is constitutionally allowed to seek a second term in office,” he said.
Beyond that, we must look at the fact that his administration has done well in building institutions of government with great efforts toward realising stable supply of power for greater economic growth and development.”
For instance, this is the first time in many years that our agricultural sector is experiencing a major revolution. It is clear that the President is putting measures in place to transform agriculture in order to create jobs for the citizens.”
