Governor Samuel Ortom earlier today inaugurated Dr Bem Melladu as Chairman of the state Local Government Service Commission. He was sworn alongside three Permanent Commissioners for the local government commission.
At a reception in his honour after the swearing in ceremony which took place at the residence of the Secretary to the State Government Prof Tony Ijohor, Dr Melladu thanked governor Ortom for finding him worthy for the job. He also expressed appreciation to Prof Tony Ijohor for undertaking the responsibility of putting together a reception for him.
Melladu who described the SSG as their political rallying point in Gboko advised the people to put aside political differences and work in unity for the peace and progress of the society. He said that campaigns were over and it was now time for governance in the interest of the generality of the people.
In his own speech, former Speaker Pro Tempore Rt Hon Terngu Tsegba also appreciated the governor for the numerous appointments to the people of Gboko, a development he assured the Gboko people hold to heart.
Delivering his vote of thanks, the SSG said that he was humbled by the honour accorded him by hosting the reception in his home. He pointed out that Dr Melladu had been a Secretary to the State Government before him and therefore his superior by order of hierarchy and has a bigger house than his own but agreed to hold the reception in his house nevertheless and appealed for continued cooperation and unity from the political class of Gboko.
