Former Anambra NBA chairman joins APGA

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is set to receive into its fold a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Obele Chuka Obele, who is on the verge of joining the party.
This is even as he said he is being wooed by major political parties in the country
Obele, it would be recalled, was the vice chairman of NBA, Onitsha branch, when his chairman, Banabas Igwe, and his wife, Abigel, and the unborn child in her womb were gruesomely murdered by alleged members of the defunct Anambra Vigilante Group.
The activist, once a members of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), however, became the chairman of the Bar and tried so much to unravel the mystery surrounding the murder of his late chairman and wife.
Obele, it would also be recalled, championed the fight against the unlawful impeachment of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi.
At the climax of the struggle, he was allegedly manhandled inside the Akwa High Court chambers by security operatives during the inauguration of a seven-man impeachment panel set up by the then state Chief Judge, Chuku Okoli.
Obele is presently the leader of the Democratic Lawyers Forum (DLF) and head of the Human Right Community, which he used in providing free legal services to traders, pensioners, serving public servants who seek redress over issues that has to do with their fundamental human rights.
