Port Harcourt – More than 2000 delegates have defied an early morning rain to attend the Rivers congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) holding at the Civic Centre in Port Harcourt.
A Correspondent of the covering the congress, reports that the delegates came in buses from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
Security was tight at the venue as only accredited delegates, journalists and observers were allowed to enter the hall.
A member of the National Assembly, Sen. Magnus Abe, told NAN that the huge turnout was an indication that Rivers people had embraced the APC.
Abe, (APC- Rivers), said that people were yearning for change in the country and had decided to join the APC to actualise the dream.
He said that “if the party wins next year’s presidential election, it will address many challenges facing the country’’
