The crisis that has engulfed the interim National Executive Committee of the opposition APC has grown worse as the National Deputy Chairman of the party in the North East, Alhaji Umar Duhu, has berated the party’s National Secretary, Alhaji Tijani Tumsah for tyrannical actions in the executive, especially taking over the duties of other national officers.
The APC National Vice Chairman, Duhu in specific terms accused the embattled national secretary of the party of illegally inaugurating the Borno State APC Interim Committee. The Committee is said to have been imposed on the Borno party members because some wealthy politicians in the state took over the structure.
“In my capacity as the Vice Chairman, I am the only one empowered by the APC to inaugurate all APC State Interim Committee (SIC) Members (in the zone)”, Alhaji Duhu said, in a statement sent to reporters in Borno.
“I had inaugurated, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Adamawa States. I only have Borno and Yobe State, to conclude my assignment in the Zone.”
Scan News learnt that the new executive foisted on the State was drawn by the Governor Shettima and handed over to the National Secretary for inauguration.
Supporters of the former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff have declared their readiness to challenge the executive. They claimed that any attempt by the national executive committee to insist that the governor controls the executive will be resisted as they are likely to seek succour in the ruling PDP.
