The interim national vice chairman, North-East, of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Duhu, has described as diversionary and baseless, the allegation by the Nigerian military that an unnamed politician in the North-East zone was behind a plot to discredit the military.
He added that the allegation is false and criminal, saying Nigerians now know that the Federal Government has a skeleton in its cupboard.
“The recent claim by the Federal Government through the Military spokesman that a top politician in the North-East is sponsoring an anti-military plot, is not only false, criminal, and diversionary. Nigerians and indeed the international community now knows the Nigerian government has skeletons in its cupboard, hence their refusal to tackle the insecurity challenge in the Northern part of Nigeria, let alone rescuing the abducted Chibok girls,” he said.
Duhu said former President Olusegun Obasanjo has been vindicated over his letter to President Goodluck Jonathan in 2013 alleging various atrocities by the latter’s administration.
“Considering the spate of killings in the North and other parts of Nigeria, you will agree with me that, the memo former President Obasanjo sent to Jonathan, wherein he told the whole world that, many prominent Nigerians and particularly the Northerners will be eliminated before the 2015 general election is germane. Looking at all the happenings today,President Obasanjo’s claims are now established,” Duhu said.
He cited the killing of the emir of Gwoza at the weekend, the incessant attacks on Ngamboru Ngala market and the frequent killings of villagers in remote areas of the North-East as reasons for undesirability of emergency rule in the affected states.
“Look at this open display of incompetence and show of cowardice by supposedly Gen. Chris Olukolade. Instead of explaining to Nigerians of their inadequacies and incompetence, and to request for prayers and support of Nigerians, they went on to malign the hard-earned reputation and image of their superior and elder statesman, Admiral Murtala Hamman-Yero Nyako (GCON), as one of those mentioned as part of the political big wigs fingered alongside the Executive Governor of Borno State sponsoring a renewed campaign aimed at attracting international condemnation and indictment of the Nigerian military and its operations in the Northern part of the country.
“Enough of the further killing of very innocent Nigerians in cool blood. It is either President Jonathan realizes that he is the President of all Nigerians, or he should hurriedly resigns for a more competent Nigerian to fix the State called Nigeria,” Duhu said.
