*Wike challenges Amaechi to present himself for senatorial election, if he thinks he is popular
In continuation of his fight against Supervising Minister of Education, Barr Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, has threatened to resist any governorship candidate from his Ikwerre ethnic group in the state in 2015 general elections.
The governor insinuated that he is ready to battle the emergence of another Ikwerre man as governor with all resources available to him.
The governor is now in APC, where he favours a member of the House of Representatives to take over from him.
However, the Supervising Minister of Education, Barr. Wike who wrestled away the PDP structure from Amaechi has challenged the governor to contest for a senatorial seat in 2015 if he thinks he is popular.
Governor Amaechi said: “The next thing I want to tell you is that I’m an Ikwerre man; whether Ikwerre has population or not, Ikwerre should bid farewell to governorship till some others have gotten. Where the governor will come from, I don’t know, I’m not God, but I will fight any Ikwerre candidate that comes out. That one you can take from me. What you can’t take from me today is, I don’t know where the governor will come from.”
