Yobe Moves To Provide Security For Schools

Yobe Government on Thursday said it had concluded arrangements with the Joint Security Task Force ( JTF) to deploy security operatives to schools in the state.

Alhaji Muhammad Lamin, the Commissioner for Education , said this while addressing newsmen in Damaturu.
“The government, in collaboration with the joint security task force, agreed on deployment of security operatives to provide 24 hours security in the schools.”

The commissioner described the attack on the Government Secondary School , Damaturu, as “traumatic and pathetic” as it involved innocent souls of students and teachers.

“The trauma will remain with us for a very long time because one can not imagine what the students and teachers have done to deserve such gruesome murder,” he said.

Lamin said the state government had closed the affected school to give the staff and students adequate time to
recover from the unfortunate attack.

He said the state government would fence all the schools to provide security to the institutions.
