A suspected armed robbery attack on Kumbu village of Mangu local government area, Plateau State, left one person dead and two others critically injured.
The armed robbers, Scan News learnt invaded the village and over-powered residents.
Confirming the robbery and death, spokesman of the Special Task Force (STF) Operation Safe Haven, Captain Salisu Mustapha, said that the troops of the STF, on hearing about the incident, trooped to the scene immediately, adding that the robbers on learning of the approach of the soldiers took to their heels and abandoned the goods stolen there.
He informed that the robbers who went there in motorcycles also abandoned them and ran into the bush, according to an eyewitness. The witness told the troops that the men who came in motorcycles started shooting sporadically immediately they arrived and killed one person and wounded two other persons first before ransacking for money and valuable goods.
Mustapha said that investigation is on to track down the armed robbers.
Kumbu village was attacked in June when six people were killed by armed robbers. It was gathered that the armed robbers demanded and collected money from the victims and whoever did not have money to bail himself was shot.
