In the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero on Thursday flagged off the distribution of 69,000 bags of rice to the less-privileged across the 23 local government areas of the state.
In his speech at the official flag-off in Kaduna yesterday, Governor Yero said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by the people, especially during the Ramadan.
He said the government was not unaware of the hardship facing some of its citizens and would remain unwavering in its determination to uplift the living standard of all citizens of the state.
“Our target is to reach all our people with necessary assistance at this auspicious period of Ramadan fast. Let me be quick to advise all the local government councils to ensure that these bags of rice get to the intended beneficiaries.
The governor disclosed plan for free Ramadan feeding, saying the people could access the feeding at the designated feeding centres effective from Monday 22nd July, 2013.
Earlier in his speech, the commissioner for special duties and poverty alleviation Turaki Kalik informed that each local government areas would be given 2,500 bags of the rice.
