*Insists on due process in procurement and university development
The Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, UNN, under the chairmanship of the university’s Pro-Chancellor, Mr Emmanuel Chukwuka Ukala, SAN, met last weekend, with members discussing key developmental issues to fast track development in the foremost Federal University.
The new Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of the UNN Governing Council, Mr. Ukala (SAN) organised a procurement and anti-corruption workshop to acquaint members of the Governing Council with the best practices in procurement and award of contract to ensure that the university’s council and management function optimally.
Addressing the meeting, Pro-Chancellor, Mr Ukala assured members of the council that he will run a transparent system that will always take into cognizance due process in the overall interest of the university.
He said that the procurement and anti-corruption training was organised for council members to equip them with relevant information needed to run a functional university system based on the legal tenets.
The Lead Speaker, Director General of Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr Emeka Ezeh urged members of the University of Nigeria, UNN, Governing Council to always follow carefully the requirements of public procurement in the interest of the university system.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Bartho Okolo described the inaugural training programme as necessary to consolidate on the developmental programmes being executed by the institution.
Representative of the Federal Ministry of Education on the Council, Mrs Funmi Brown commended the new Pro-Chancellor for organising the training, saying that it will enhance the work of the council members and the university management.
