Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed has opened personal talks with the leadership of the PDP and the Presidency over his possible reinstatement into the mainstream of the party, Scan News has learnt.
A source close to the Governor told Scan News in Ilorin that some leaders of the late Olusola Saraki political think-thank had approached the governor after meeting PDP national leaders and the Presidency over his (Ahmed’s) relationship with the new PDP.
The group of late Saraki’s leaders told the governor that he had no business being with the new PDP as he is a first term governor, who has a crucial re-election to run next.
It was gathered that the Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdulahi after the initial agreement on both sides facilitated the meeting between Abdulfatah Ahmed and the national PDP leaders. The meeting was followed by another engagement between Vice President Namadi Sambo and the Kwara State governor, which the Sports Minister consummated on the celebration of World Teachers Day.
Since the meeting between Ahmed and the VP Sambo, the Kwara state governor has tactically stayed away from the G7 meetings.
Though nothing concrete has been agreed on by both parties, Scan News investigations revealed that the PDP is working towards ensuring that Ahmed gets an automatic ticket.
Ahmed’s new stance has led to a cold war between him and his political godfather, Bukola Saraki who drafted him into the fight against the Presidency.
