Imo to reap benefits from Sports Tourism – Governor Ihedioha

In the past few days, the Governor has embarked on inspection tour across the 27 Local Government Areas, with focus on the ongoing construction of Local Government Sports Development/Recreation Centers and Secretariats.
With the completion of today’s tour across Okigwe, Onuimo, Isiala Mbano and Ikeduru LGAs, the Governor has toured a total of 25 Local Governments Areas, with only Oguta and Oru West yet to be visited.
At Isiala Mbano, Governor Emeka Ihedioha performed the ground breaking ceremony of the Technical College in Osu, in addition to the inspection of the Sports Complex and the Secretariat.
Impressed by the innovation they displayed, the Governor awarded educational scholarships to three students of Osu Technical College, who constructed a remote controlled car with siren and put them on display before Him.
He charged them to relentlessly pursue their career in Technical Education, to enable them realize their dreams.
The Governor also promised to train them in his personal capacity, to the highest level of education in Nigeria.
Speaking to the traditional rulers at Ikeduru LGA, His Excellency Governor Emeka Ihedioha noted that his decision to visit the ongoing projects was to ensure that the Local Governments properly utilize public funds.
He said that the State has no money to waste, and can not afford to embark on shabby projects. The Governor assured that Imo State will soon become a centre for both International and National sporting events and a major booster of the State IGR.
The Governor pleaded with the traditional rulers and their subject to take interest in monitoring government projects, stating that projects done for the people must be monitored by the people to ensure their strict compliance with the highest standards.
Governor Ihedioha also expressed his sympathy for the difficulties faced by Imo people on the condition of our roads.
The Governor gave the assurance that structures are already in place to ensure that the roads are rehabilitated.
