Less than 48 hours to the Anambra Governorship election, the Imo state Police Command has arrested a gang of mercenaries in Owerri as they planned to head for Anambra State to be used as agents of violence at the election.
The Imo State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Katsina told journalists that the electoral criminals were arrested after a tip off by concerned citizens.
He stated that the mercenaries were arrested in a hotel in Owerri, the Imo State capital were they were camped for onward movement to Anambra State.
The Police Commissioner said that the suspects were in possession of voters card, accreditation materials for election observers and dangerous weapons.
