The Executive Chairman of Eleme local government area, Hon. (Barr.) Philip Okparaji has visited areas recently affected by flooding in Agbonchia community.
The Chairman who was accompanied by his Vice, Hon. Grace Osaronu, the Councillor representing Agbonchia Community, other Council officials and the Medical Officer, Eleme Primary HealthCare Centre while speaking with Youths and Elders of Aluebopka community who were worst hit stated that the welfare and well being of Eleme people remains top priority to government and as such government will take immediate steps to ameliorate the flood challenge faced by the residents.
He further stated that the council will instantly commence moves in collaboration with relevant authorities to provide succor for the affected homes prior to the construction of more drainages in the area.
On his part, the Councillor representing Agbonchia in the Eleme Legislative House, Hon. Johnson Igwe Chujor pointed out that there is usually seasonal flooding in the affected areas every Seven years but this particular one is unusual, he opined that the flooding is caused by wrong channeling of water path.
