The Edo State House of Assembly has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to call off its over three months strike.
At a sitting on Tuesday, the House noted that the strike no longer served its purpose, stating there was no need to continue keeping students at home.
The House further urged ASUU to accept the current commitments made by the Federal Government, while it appealed to the Federal Government to ensure that all ASUU’s demands are met after the strike is called off.
The House resolution, however, frowned at the State Universities’ lecturers who joined the strike for over three months, when they have no conflicts with their respective state governments.
The motion was moved by the majority leader, Felix Shuaibu and adopted by the House.
