As the governorship campaign posters of the minister of state for Education, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, were noticed in strategic locations in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital yesterday, he has fingered his opponents in the saga.
The campaign posters with the photograph of Wike and the inscription of the logo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were seen in several spots along the ever-busy Aba Road in the state capital, as well as at Wimpey, a popular junction on Ikwerre Road, also in Port Harcourt.
Later in the day, some youths believed to be loyal to the minister, were seen removing the posters.
Wike said his political opponents were responsible for the appearance of posters in the state capital
In a statement signed by his media assistant, Simeon Nwakaudu, the minister described those “behind the circulation of such posters as bad losers because the Rivers people and indeed, all Nigerians are better informed and too knowledgeable to be deceived by such fluke,” stressing that the action had no other motive than to present him as an over-ambitious politician.
