Troops took on Boko Haram terrorists in a Maiduguri suburb where they were meeting, killing about 20 of them after a gun-fight.
However, the soldiers also suffered casualty, with two of them losing their lives, while others were injured.
Scan News correspondent in Maiduguri reports that the operation was as a result of the information of members of the public.
It was gathered that the Boko Haram terrorists were mapping out strategy to unleash coordinated attacks on Maiduguri.
In an interview, the Field Operations officer of JTF in Borno State, Colonel Victor Ebhaleme informed that 20 Boko Haram members were killed, one soldier was lost and two others sustained gunshot injuries.
He said:” We got intelligence report that some suspected Boko Haram terrorist were having a meeting at a particular location in the metropolis, while we approach the venue of their meeting point the terrorist opened fire on the JTF which led to the killing of 20 of the terrorist while we lost one soldier and two others sustained injury.”
He explained that the newly introduced strategy code-named “Humanitarian Line of Operation” works with improved relationship with members of the public, adding that it is already yielding results.
