The leadership of Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, took the infamous path of selfish interest when it released a statement declaring that it does not support emergency rule for states crippled by insecurity.
The position of the governors was made public by its embattled chairman, Chibuike Amaechi. Many believe that Amaechi is fronting this position ahead of the NGF election to remain popular among his colleagues.
The group rejected any planned declaration of a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and other troubled states.
They advised the federal government to reject any advice to make such a declaration in the troubled states.
“These requests are being made by people who do not wish our country well and who are bent on plunging the country into a deeper crisis,”
the governors said.
