Jang advises Moslems to learn from Ramadan

Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang has called on the Muslim faithful to sustain the lessons learnt during the period of Ramadan beyond the month which include patience, tolerance and good neighbourliness. This is contained in his message to the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-El-Fitri celebration.

Signed by the Director of Press Affairs, Mr. James Mannok, the governor also urged them to continue to pray for peace, love and stability of the nation. The governor also implored the people of Nigeria not to allow religion to tear them apart but to embrace and stand up for the unity of the country as well as the promotion of dignity of humanity.

Jang reiterated the determination of the government of Plateau State to deliver on democracy dividends while calling for cooperation of all for government to succeed. He equally enjoined religious leaders to preach to their followers the true ideals of faith which are anchored on respect to all God creations.

The governor added that they should not go to bed on the secularity of the country but to join hands in the crude for a better and egalitarian society where respect for one another is the norm. He is therefore, wishing all Muslim Ummah a peaceful Eid-el-Fitri as they celebrate today.

The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. John Clark Dabwan, has also felicitated with the Muslim Ummah in and around the state as they commemorate the festivity. He urged the adherents of Islam to imbibe the virtues of Prophet Mohammed not only within the period but in their daily lives.

In a statement by his Press Secretary, Nandak Chingle, the Speaker called on Muslims and all citizens to embrace one another as no religion encourages violence, adding that it is only then will the state and the nation witness the peace and stability which had eluded it for so long.           Dabwan urged the people of the state to support the efforts being made by government at all levels, pointing out that the state legislature is committed to ensuring that the dividends of democracy are equitably distributed irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliations.
