“We are deeply touched and concerned. I have always used Rivers State as a benchmark in terms of inspection and approval of buildings.
“I am very shocked that this could happen. However, I commend Governor Wike for the steps he has taken . It shows that he is a governor with a good heart and a mind for the people”, he said.
The Ebonyi State Governor announced a donation of N5million (Five Million Naira) to assist the families of victims of the building collapse.
Responding, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike thanked the Ebonyi State Governor for identifying with the people of Rivers State at this moment of grief.
He said that the most painful aspect of the building collapse is the deaths of innocent persons who are breadwinners of their respective families.
“I am bothered about the deaths that we have recorded at the site of the building collapse,” he said.
The governor said that the Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the building collapse will find out those culpable and recommend appropriate punishment for them.
