Benue lawmaker to face trial over debt

The Member of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr Avine Agbom who displaced the former speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Prince Terhemen Tarzoor at the Election Tribunal has refused to settle his legal bills and is now facing trial.

The lawyer of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Andrew Wombo who represented the member during the Election Tribunal and Appeal Court sessions has dragged the legislator to court for failing to pay him N7.5million owed him as professional fees.

He however regretted that 6 months after the triumph at the court, the lawmaker has deliberately refused to pay him even as the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN which was also joined in the suit has remitted the sum of N1 million to him.

“Several messages sent to Hon. Agbom has not yielded any positive response, hence the court attention, Barr. Wombo explained.

No specific date has been fixed for hearing of the suit.

All efforts to get the comments of Hon. Agbom proved abortive.
