From Blessing Iruoma, Port Harcourt
The Rivers state Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has condemned the killing of the State Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Julius Nwaofu by unidentified gunmen in Port Harcourt.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. David Iyofor, Amaechi decried the dastardly act calling it “wicked and atrocious at this time in the life of our nation and state.”
Consoling the bereaved family and ANPP members, the governor said the police must get to the root of the murder.
Amaechi directed all security agencies in the state to work assiduously to ensure that the perpetrators of the evil crime are caught and brought to book in no distant time.
“As a State government, we will ensure that the security agencies do not relent until the criminals behind this heinous act are captured and face the full wrath of the law,” Amaechi said.
He further urged everyone in the State to remain calm as the government is working closely with law enforcement agents to rid the state of all inhuman and unlawful activities.
It would be recalled that the ANPP Chairman was murdered in cool blood by unknown gunmen last week Tuesday night along Obiri Ikwerre- Aluu- Port Harcourt Airport new road.
