FG is committed to resolving ASUP,COEASU strike action

The Federal Government remains committed to the resolution of the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, ASUP and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU.

The commitment of the Federal Government to the resolution of the strike actions by the two
Unions is exemplified by the continuous engagement with officials of the unions by the Federal Ministry of Education and Federal Ministry of Labour.

Already, the Federal Government has resolved most of the key issues that led to the strike action and will in due course resolve the outstanding issue.

Nigerians are aware that the Federal Government has already set up the Needs Assessment Committees for Federal Polytechnics and Federal Colleges of Education. Both committees have been inaugurated and are working to deliver on their mandate.

For Polytechnics, the Federal Government has appointed the governing councils for Federal Polytechnics that hitherto had none.

The administration will continue to create the enabling environment for the development of all aspects of the education sector.

Like the Universities, the Polytechnics and Colleges of Education have received the deserved attention of the Federal Government which has translated into key projects and academic programmes.
