Over one million citizens of Niger State have affixed their signatures endorsing Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ) for 2015 Presidential election ahead of tomorrow’s zonal rally by the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) in Minna, Niger State capital.
This is coming on the heels of reports in one of the national dailies that collection of signatures for President Jonathan is yet to commence in Niger State barely 24 hours before the TAN rally.
Secretary to the Niger State Government, Hon. Saidu Ndako Idris Kpaki, in a statement on Thursday said the collation of signatures which started since Monday has over one million people from all the 25 local government areas endorsing Goodluck Jonathan for a second team.
“Contrary to reports in a national daily that collection of signatures for President Jonathan is yet to commence in the state, I want to say that as at this moment we have collected over one million signatures in all our designated centres across the state, and we are expecting the number to double before the weekend,” stated.
“The signatories include youths, market women, businessmen and women and party members. Members of the Congress of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) have also endorsed President Jonathan for 2015 elections.
“Niger State is solidly for PDP and President Jonathan, and we demonstrated this during the just concluded Niger East bye-election which saw Dr. Shem Zagbayi Nuhu of the PDP winning the election,” the statement said.
Hon. Ndako Kpaki said Nigeria and indeed Nigerians have witnessed tremendous transformation in all sectors of its economy in the over three years of President Jonathan’s administration hence the need to ensure continuity of his good works by voting him for a second term.
