Jonathan commissions Amajiri school in Bauchi

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday declared that his administration will continue to work towards the creation of access to education for less privileged Nigerian children, irrespective of their societal background.
Jonathan who spoke at the commissioning of the Almajiri Model School in Bauchi said that his administration tailored the Transformation Agenda to cater for all categories of Nigerians.
The President who was represent by Vice President Namadi Sambo noted that the intervention in basic education by the Federal Government is geared towards ensuring that states and LGAs replicate the programme at their level.
He said beside the programme for the Almajiris, his administration is working towards creating access to basic education for less privileged children in the South-East and South-South regions of the country.
Jonathan informed that the teaching personnel of the school will be properly trained to ensure that they delivered on the curriculum of education planned for the model schools.
Earlier, Bauchi State Governor, Mallam Isah Yuguda commended the Jonathan administration for being the first since Independence to invest in the education of the Almajiris.

He said that the Almajiris suffer hunger, neglect and disease, pointing out that the administration deserve commendation for duly empowering these hitherto neglected Nigerians.
He said that his administration is also working round the clock to empower Almajiris through the construction of more schools.
Supervising Minister of Education, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike represented by the Acting Executive Secretary of UBEC, Prof. Charles Onocha said that the Federal Government will continue to give creation of access to education the priority it deserves.
Vice President Namadi Sambo formally commissioned the school which served as a symbolic commissioning of others in different parts of the country. The Vice President went ahead to carry out the symbolic registration of pupils into the schools.
