The Department of State Services, DSS, has declared that APC Deputy National Secretary, Nasir El-Rufai is not above the Nigerian law, hence he must make himself available to be interrogated on the statement promising Nigerians deaths or face arrest wherever he will be found.
The DSS announced through its spokesperson, Maryln Ogar that it has obtained a warrant of arrest for the controversial former FCT Minister. She urged the fleeing politician to present himself as operatives of DSS are now on his trail.
El-Rufai escaped from his home and office after DSS operatives visited him to arrest him. He thereafter issued a statement through his media assistant.
The DSS have visited private homes owned by El-Rufai without meeting him in any of the houses. He has since gone into hiding.
“We extended a friendly invitation to him. He was invited honourably to come and make some explanations about the comments attributed to him. He said he wanted an arrest warrant. We have now obtained that from a competent court and we are wondering why he is running.
“We want to serve it on him. Or is there any Nigerian that is above the law? The president has said his ambition is not worth any Nigerian’s blood. So why will anyone else be making provocative statements?”
Scan News gathered that El-Rufai who has gone into hiding has been in touch with APC leaders and senior lawyers who are preparing to follow him to the DSS headquarters to avert his arrest.
A source at the APC headquarters said that the APC senior leaders have worked on the possible defence for the embattled opposition politician who made be prosecuted if he admits making the comments.
Mr Mohammed Junaid, a second republic lawmaker made a similar statement, but at the DSS headquarters he swore that journalists quoted him out of context. He profusely blamed journalists for misrepresenting his position and asked humbly to be pardoned.
Like Junaid, Scan News learnt that his lawyers have planned to claim that the reporters who covered the event, quoted him out of context.
