Supervising Minister of Education, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has commiserated with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on the death of its former President, Professor Festus Iyayi who was on his way to Kano for the meeting of the union.
The Minister also commiserated with the family of the former ASUU President and the University of Benin over the untimely death of the academic.
The Minister described the late ASUU President as an erudite scholar whose academic and professional contributions to national development will be missed.
He prayed God to grant the ASUU, the family of Professor Iyayi and the entire nation the strength to bear this loss.
“We are very sad about the death of Professor Festus Iyayi who has been a strong voice in the advancement of quality university education in our country. His death is a huge loss to Nigeria”, the Minister said.
