Governor Godswill Akpabio and five other governors nominated from each of the six geo-political zones in the country by Nigerian nationals resident in Norway are to receive the highly prized Nigerian Governor’s Merit Award, holding in the Norwegian capital, Oslo on Saturday, October 12 2013.
The governors are Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State (S-South), Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State (S-West) and Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State (S-East).
Others are Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State (N-East), Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State (N-West), and Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue state (North-Central).
The Six are being honored by members of the entire Nigerian community in the Scandinavian nation in recognition of their wonderful performances in their respective states.
According to a statement by the Co-coordinator of the Awards in Nigeria, Mr. Ben Ekpo said all the eminent awardees have been dully notified by the organizers in Norway, adding that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to give the six Governors a befitting and wonderful reception in Norway.
“Since its inauguration of the Nigeria Union in Oslo in 1980, it is the first time in its history that Governors in Nigerian will be so recognized and honored the statement concluded.
