Sharapova wins French Open Grand Slam, as Nadal and Djokovic square up on Sunday

Maria Sharapova on Saturday won the French Open completing a career grand slam in the process.

Sharapova defeated Italy’s Sara Errani 6-3, 6-2 to win the Rolland Garros.

She is billed to become the world’s number one ranked female tennis player.

For Sharapova, the victory at the French Open ensures that she has won all four grand slams. The Russian won Wimbledon in 2004, the US Open in 2006 and Australian Open in 2008.

Rafael Nadal will be working towards winning his seventh French Open as he plays against Novak Djokovic who is playing his first French Open Final.

Seeded Number in the competition, Nadal will seek to conquer Djokovic, the first seed in the competition.

The match will be played on Sunday to conclude the French Open. Nadal defeated David Ferrer to reach the final, while Djokovic defeated Federrer on his way to the final.
