Nigeria’s goal in the match was scored by Gabriel Ruben after Russian based Ahmed Musa was brought down for a free kick.
For the Malawians, they succeeded in maintaining an unbeaten home record since Kinnah Phiri took over as a chief in 2008.
Nigeria’s tactician, Stephen Keshi maintained his line up that defeated Namibia at the U.J Eusene Stadium.
The first half saw that Flames of Malawi working hard to score, but the game was generally a square match all through the half.
Malawi got their equalizer through John Banda who scored in the added time before the end of the match.
Nigeria tops the group with four points from two matches. However, the full table will be known after Kenya plays away to Namibia.
In other matches, Bafana Bafana of South Africa failed to secure three points after they drew with Botwsana in their world cup qualifier. With the result, South Africa has two points from two matches.
