…Empowers 2,120 Women, Youths With Cash, Skill Acquisition.
Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Ofagbe Ward 4 in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State have urged the women, men and youths of the community to support all PDP candidates in the 2019 elections.
Leader of the party in the Ward and pioneer Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro said this at the weekend during an empowerment programme for the PDP women and youths at Ofagbe.
He charged the women, youths and other party faithful to ensure that they deliver massively for the party candidates in the forthcoming elections, stressing ‘I urge you to say no to anti-party but vote for all candidates of our party from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for President, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for Governor, Senator James Manager for Senate, Hon Leo Ogor for House of Representatives and Hon Tim Owhefere for House of Assembly.’.
Hon Okoro urged the people to continue their support for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and all other candidates of the PDP adding that when re-elected the governor will carry out more empowerment programmes for Deltans which will also trickle down to the people of the community.
“As a community, we have benefitted immensely from the Okowa led administration, he has totally rehabilitated Ofagbe Technical College with new equipments, rehabilitated Oriavo Primary School Ofagbe, built 3 classroom block at Oketa Mixed Grammar School among others’, he stated.
Flanked by Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical Matters, Mr Ajiri Umukoro, Member Governing Council, Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro, Hon Gabriel Alebe, Chairman IPMAN Delta State Comrade Zino Onaemor; Prof. Chris Akpotu among others, Hon Okoro explained that the leaders collectively contributed to the empowerment programme in which almost 2,120 women and youths from the community benefited from various cash sums and another set of 20 youths will be trained on any skill of their choice with starter packs given to them upon completion of the training.
‘As leaders of the PDP in Ofagbe Ward 4, we have taken it upon ourselves in line with Governor Okowa’s SMART Agenda to empower some of our women and youths to make them self reliant in order to check the growing rate of unemployment in the country.’, he stated.
“Our women, youths and other party stakeholders have been very supportive of our cause hence we decided to reciprocate their support and by the grace of God we will make it an annual event so that more people can be accommodated in the empowerment scheme,” he added.
