A leader of the All Progressives Congress in North-Central Nigeria, Sen. Dr. George Akume has described the administration of Gov. Samuel Ortom as an ‘organized crime masquerading as a government.’ Addressing Gov Ortoms kinsmen (Nongov Elders Forum), Tarka Local Government Caucus, NUBESS, Benue Youth Advocates and National Association of Ihyarev Youth, etc who paid him a solidarity visit at his judges quarters residence Makurdi, Sen. Akume stated that he has at no time offended Gov Samuel Ioraer Ortom
Sen. Akume revealed that what led to their parting way is Gov Ortom’s massive looting and his deliberate refusal to pay civil servants and pensioners their salaries adding that ‘any person who wants to make money should go into the private sector.’
He also apologized to Benue People for the damage caused by Ortom stating that he thought Ortom was going to perform better to improve on the welfare of the people.
In their separate remarks, the groups stated that their visit is to identify with the Senator as their leader. They advised him not to be moved by any defections or counter defections describing same as element of desperation and defeat.
