The Plateau state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, had Friday, criticised Governor Simon Lalong over his unwarranted comments on herdsmen attacks and for his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.
Plateau state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, John Akans, in a statement, faulted the governor’s claim that Plateau had started a ranching policy of the Federal Government.
According to the PDP, “All these have exposed Governor Lalong as a person who has sold his conscience and does not care about the today and tomorrow of his people or those of his brothers and sisters in neighbouring states and Nigeria at large.
It added, “it is unfortunate that our Lalong chose to exhibit a deep sense of ill- will towards a colleague and brother by choosing to berate him in public , even as they claim to be of the same political party and agenda”.
Governor Lalong, in a statement through his Director, Press and Public Affairs, Emmanuel Nanle, said the governor’s comment “was taken out of context and completely misquoted when his response on peer review of policies with his counterpart from neighbouring state was responded to in the affirmative”.
But the PDP described as absurd Lalong’s unstatemansly characteristic behaviour to impress his boss and host, on the mindless killing of innocent people in their homes as “clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers” rather than condemning the killers.
