AFUZE – THE Edo state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today commenced its Local government campaign tours in Owan west (Sabongida) and Owan east (Afuze) in Edo north senatorial district of the state.
Speaking at the different rallies, the Chairman of the party, Chief Dr. Dan Osi Orbih said as the party flags off campaigns for the general election, it was time to fully assess the scorecard of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Orbih said: “The most pertinent questions we need to ask ourselves are – Is your life better now than it was in 2015? Have they (APC) fulfilled their campaign promises. Obviously, APC can’t commence campaigns because they have nothing on ground to showcase as achievements”.
“This election isn’t about APC or PDP but about Nigerians who are yearning for a better life. I urge us to go back to our various units and work for the victory of our party”.
“When APC comes to campaign in Owan, let us see if they will tell us about converting the Institute of Physical Education at Afuze into a University, a promise they have consistently made every four years and failed to accomplish it. Instead of the former governor, Adams Oshiomhole to do the needful and fulfil his promise, he decided to build a new University in his hometown where the children of the poor can’t even attend”, Orbih hinted.
In their separate remarks, the PDP Edo North senatorial candidate, Hon. Abubakar Momoh, House of representatives candidate, Hon. Johnson Abolagba, the House of assembly candidates for Owan West/ East, Hon. Ojo Agge and Hon. Hillary Ozogo, all decried the high level of poverty and suffering in the country due to the ineptitude and incompetent of the President and his henchmen, they asked the people to vote PDP come 2019.
Receiving defectors, a foremost APC leader and Secretary of Elders council in Edo North, Sir Haruna Rapheal who led 4,000 APC supporters comprising, factional party executives and members from the entire 11 wards in Owan east including the LG chairman to the PDP, stated that his former party (APC) has turned the country into an animal kingdom. He noted with displeasure the crass impunity which greeted the just concluded party primaries, according to him, the action of party will cripple the chances of the APC in the Local government.
