The Chairman of Adavi Local Government Area of Kwara State, Mr. Adaviruku Salihu, has been suspended for three months by the council’s legislators for alleged gross misconduct .
The suspension notice, signed by all the 11 members of the legislature, was said to have been handed over to Salihu.
The Adavi LG lawmakers were said have unanimously agreed on the suspension at their sitting on Wednesday.
They stated that the suspension, which took effect from Wednesday, was to enable the legislators to investigate series of complaints about Salihu’s handling of the council funds since he assumed office more than one year ago.
A source in the LG, who pleaded anonymity, stated that the suspension was not unconnected with the alleged non-compliance with the directive of the governor, Capt. Idris Wada (retd.), that all the 21 LGA in the state should pay full salaries to their staff as the federal allocations to the LGs had improved.
Salihu’s suspension is coming less than three weeks after the chairman of Deign LGA, Mr. Mohammed Ali, was also suspended
by his council legislators.
