A group, Grassroots Political Awareness Association (GPAA), has decried the delay in attending to petitions sent to the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the crisis in the Bauchi State chapter of the party.
Coordinator of the group, Alhaji Tanimu Shehu, said the recently concluded ward, local government and state congresses in the state were marred by irregularities as a result of which, many of the party’s supporters became aggrieved.
Shehu who spoke to newsmen in Abuja said his group received several complaints about the congresses by the APC supporters, while a number of petitions were sent to the party secretariat in Abuja with copies made available to all the party elders.
He said many candidates found their names missing on the election day while the names of those that participated were not displayed as stipulated by the electoral guidelines of the party.
He said others who bought forms to participate in the elections were rejected for no reasons insisting that the state congress committee failed to set up appeal committee to hear the grievances of participants at wards and LGs levels until after the state congresses.
He called on the party leadership not to overlook such petitions.
