Ahead of the 2019 general election, the Imo State Elders Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has endorsed the outcome of the recently held gubernatorial primaries and other party primaries for various positions.
At a meeting of the partys’s State Elders Committee, State Working Committee, Candidates of various positions and aspirants held at the party’s State Secretariat Owerri, Friday, a peaceful resolution was reached, even as the primaries were ratified.
The Elders Committee, a statutory organ of the party, chaired by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu applauded the Gubernatorial primaries and other primaries for various positions as free fair, transparent and credible and congratulated the governoship candidate, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha for his victory at the primaries.
According to the report, the meeting resolved that all members of the party should work hard to deliver victory at the general elections come 2019.
Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Jude Njoku, one of the governoship aspirants, noted that, “I contested the governoship primaries in 2014. Despite the outcome I remained loyal to the party. This time around, I can attest to the free and transparent processes during our primaries and I want to assure that I will work to deliver the party at all levels in next year’s election. I urge all our brothers to come together for the collective interest of the party and the state at large.
It was also resolved that those who won should be magnanimous in their Victory and reach out to their colleagues who lost.
In a bid to ensure cohesion within the party, it resolved that a committee be set up in every federal constituency in liaison with Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to reconcile all the aspirants where there are issues.
The Elders Council unanimously affirmed their support and confidence in the leadership of Chief Iwuanyanwu as the leader of the party and further urged him to take steps to nip in the bud, any issues arising from the gubernatorial primaries.

Ezenwa Onyewuchi, Chief Bon Unachukwu, Owerri Zonal Vice Chairman, Nze Ray Emeana, State Secretary, Chief Silas Onyeiwu, Okigwe Zonal Chairman, Hon. Mike Iheanetu, Hon. Damian Opara, Statee Publicity Secretary and other members of the State Working Committee
