Dear Oby Ndukwe,
It’s indeed regrettable, that you tried to play politics with an innocent post made by Mr. Larry Pepple concerning the N9 Billion Naira that was budgeted for the Bonny/Bodo road project in the 2017 budget.
Let me help you with some truths about the project.
The Governor of Rivers state Nyesom Wike, then Supervising Minister for Education, facilitated a meeting between former President Jonathan and the King and Chiefs of Bonny Kingdom to discuss the way forward on the said road project, the oil and gas polytechnic and other issues.
President Jonathan immediately granted the King’s requests, as follows:
1- Immediate release of funds to kick start the polytechnic.
2- Proper procurement and assessment to be done on the Bonny/Bodo road.
3- President Jonathan reawarded the project for N120 billion Naira, and N25 billion Naira was appropriated for the project in the 2015 budget. (to be implemented by Buhari’s government; the winner of the 2015 Presidential election). See link below.
4- Gov. Wike in 2016, prevailed on NLNG to fund 50 percent cost of the Bonny/Bodo road project, representing N60 Billion Naira. And NLNG graciously granted the governor’s request.
This commitment by NLNG was also reechoed by its former MD, Mr. Babs when he paid a courtesy visit on the King of Bonny.
Please Oby Ndukwe, Bonny people don’t politicize development and security. You are warned!
Let me educate you further.
The 2017 budget is not passed. And Appropriation is not the same thing as Release. So kindly halt your propaganda of RELEASE of N9 billion Naira.
After all, Rotimi Amaechi your Jesus, appropriated N65 billion Naira for the Rivers’ monorail project, with a promise to ride on it in October, 2014. Ntom wu Ntom ! Otu awu’ nezi.
May I use this opportunity to thank Gov. Wike, for getting the NLNG to contribute a whooping N60 billion Naira towards this project.
Finally, I will further demand that the National Assembly members from Rivers state, increase the amount to the initial N25 billion Naira that former President Jonathan earmarked for the Bonny/Bodo road project in the 2015 budget. This is the minimum!
