UnLawful Detention: IGP, Ex- Deputy Gov Dragged To Court

Adamu Richard Tallen, Son of the immediate past Deputy governor of Plateau state Mrs Pauline Tallen has dragged his mother, The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed D Abubakar and the Nigerian Police Force before an Abuja High Court over an allegation of the abuse of his foundamental Human Rights.

The applicant is also asking the court to award the sum of Two Hundred million naira as compensation for the unlawful,illegal, unconstitutional and gross violation of his foundamental human rights.

The applicant is asking the court for the following reliefs:

** A declaration the arrest and incarceration of the applicant from 13 day of june 2013 till date by the respondents, their agents, srevants, privies, officers or otherwise however called is illegal, unconstitutional and oppressive as it violates the applicant rights as guaranteed by section 35 of the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

**An order directing the respondents to issue an apology in writing to the applicant within seven days of making the declaration sought in relief 1 above for their violet infringement of the applicant right as constitutionally guaranteed.

The applicant is further asking the court to award the sum of N200,000,000.00 only to the applicant as compensation for the unlawful,illegal, unconstitutional and gross violation of the applicant foundamental right to personal liberty and freedom of movement.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the matter.
