Army authorities on Wednesday in Kaduna arrested suspected pipeline vandals and illegal oil bunkerers at the Sabon Gida village in the
state. The Commander 41 Division Engineers and 1 Division Internal Security Force, Brigadier General Tagbo Ude, while addressing journalists said the suspects were handed over to the police immediately after the arrest.
He said their troops were alerted on the activities of the suspected vandals and bunkerers at the Sabon Gida village,about six kilometers off former Kaduna-Abuja Road Tollgate in Kaduna South Local Government
Area. He explained that no sooner had the suspects sighted the troops than they took to their heels but that luck ran against the duo of
Usman Umar and Aliyu Musa apprehended by the troops.
Besides, the Commander said the troops also discovered four petroleum tankers with registration numbers Gombe XF 786 GME, Nasarawa NSW 05 FA, Plateau AA 413 AKW and Sokoto XA 445 GDA. Said the Commander; “Also recovered were three generators, five large hoses,two
punching bars, one drilling machine,one sledge, one digger and handle, three assorted tanker keys,one short hose and welding appliances.
“It should be noted however that two other suspects, Mr. Chris alleged to be residing in Abuja and Mr. Musa Inuwa are still at large and effort is on going to track and apprehend them. The suspected economic saboteurs had also loaded 51,800 litres of Automated Gas
Oil (AG0), popularly known as Diesel in two of the vehicles with 12,300 and 39,500 liters respectively. A preliminary investigation was conducted by the Military Intelligence and Military Police units and today, we are handing over the suspects and the impounded items to the Kaduna State Command of the Nigerian Police Force for further investigation and prosecution.”
