RSHA Aides Protest Non Payment Of Salaries Allowances in Port Harcourt

From Blessing Iruoma, Port Harcourt

Personal Aides of Lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) Monday staged a march on the streets of Port Harcourt to protest the non payment of their salaries and allowances since January 2012.

The angry aides claimed that since the beginning of this year, they have neither heard from either the Rivers State House of Assembly or Rivers State Assembly service Commission, concerning the issue.

Some of the personal aides who staged the protest include, Special Advisers, Secretaries, Personal Assistance and drivers.

One of the SA’s who pleaded anonymity and who spoke to Scan News said they have been denied of their salaries since January this year. They all expressed the plights they went through with their families and after several efforts to sort the issue out with the authorities, they ended having empty promises from them.

The aides, who were carrying placards, however urged the relevant authorities to pay them to save them from excessive borrowing.
