The management of Nasarawa United Football Club has denied reports that it has received N25 million from the orgnanisers of the Nigeria Professional League, the League Management Company, (LMC).
The LMC had disclosed that it has dolled out huge sums of money to support the 20 clubs currently participating at the on-going Nigeria Premire Football League.
But the club chairman of the Nasarawa state United FC,Barr. Isaac Danladi debunked the claims in an interview with members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN) in Lafia, the state capital, further explained that the LMC earmarked about N20million from sponsorship deals to clubs.
He however said that the said money is used by the LMC for the provision of balls, kits and other souvenirs amounting to over 80 percent of the total amount meant for each club, even as he refused to put peg how much the club has received so far saying disclosing the figure would put pressure on the team management as players would demand payment for their outstanding allowances.
The chairman explained that although the state government has been funding the club, the current economic crunch has forced it to diverse means of complementing efforts of government in the aspect of funding.
But in telephone chat with the League Management Company,(LMC), Shehu Dikko, confirmed that some grants were given to clubs from the sponsorship deals, however declined to give details of the exact amount given to each of the 20 clubs, including Nasarawa United FC.
