Hon. Engr. Samuel Osorochi Nwanosike (JP), Executive Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, in ensuring that he delivers his electioneering campaign promises on Wednesday flagged off the construction of Igwuruta Health Centre.
It would be recalled that during the electioneering campaign period Hon Nwanosike and his team rolled out their well thought out plan for the development of the various towns and villages within the LGA.
The plan, tagged ”Our Social Contract”, contained the renovations, construction and reconstruction of markets, schools, town halls, internal roads, health centres and the building of a befitting Secretariat in the Council to house the workers in the LGA as priorities.
‘Today, we are here to perform the ground breaking/foundation laying ceremony of a health centre in Igwuruta Town for the purpose of improving the health conditions of our people within our locality’, the Ikwerre Council Chairman said.
He noted that his administration has commenced the renovation and reconstruction of Omagwa Community Secondary School, town hall for Omagwa Council of Chiefs and Elders, 10 classroom block building in Aluu, adding that there are various projects lined up for the various Wards in the LGA according to needs and assessment of the towns or communities.
The Chairman reassured that his administration will sustain the Back-to-School and Back-to-Farm programmes in order to better the lots of the people, saying that they will continue to pay greater attention to insecurity and drug addiction amongst the youths in the LGA.
He expressed gratitude to Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for granting them the opportunity to lead their people at the third tier government, noting that they will continue to drive down the dividends of democracy to the people in all the 13 Wards of the LGA.
While stating that they were committed to making Ikwerre LGA the best and pride of Rivers State, Hon Nwanosike pleaded for support from the state government and other well-meaning organisations so that the dream would be actualised.
Recalling how the health centre was built in 1958, Chief Ernest Wosu described Hon Nwanosike as a ”Talk-and-do Chairman” and prayed God to provide him with all the resources needed in completing the project.
In his vote of thanks, Chief Samuel Amadi, Nyechi Ali Omuohia, expressed the excitement of Igwuruta people and averred the collective decision of the people to keep on supporting the Ikwerre LGA Chairman and the governor of the state.
