Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have on Wednesday night, attacked and razed down Mamanti community near Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, said a source.
The insurgents who rode on bicycles, invaded the village, located at the outskirts of Maiduguri, about 10:30pm shouting “Allahu Akbar, meaning, God is great” as they shoot sporadically.
According to the source, the whole community was burnt down as residents fled to Molai for safety.
The source said, “As I am speaking with you, the village is burnt down and many animals dead, when people were running; the invaders said, “don’t run we have been warned not to kill you.
“I can’t tell you the casualties figure because we all ran to Molai. We are waiting for the military to go there now”.
The Boko Haram insurgents have been staging attacks on communities close to Maiduguri in recent times, burning down houses and carting away foodstuff and livestock.
