As the Benue Christian community celebrate with other Nigerians, the commemoration of the death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Benue State acting governor, Engr Benson Abounu has sent a message of felicitations, even as he called on them to emulate the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
He spoke today at his Makurdi residence. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ede Ogaba Ede, Engr Abounu thanked the Almighty God for granting Nigerians the opportunity to celebrate this year’s event peacefully.
He said the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is the cornerstone of the Christian faith, represents the triumph of life over death; and good over evil. He calls on all Christians to emulate the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and to show love, forgiveness, compassion and reconciliation.
Engr Abounu admonishes Christians in the state to go beyond the funfair of the celebration and soberly reflect on their relationship with God, and with their fellow human beings. He said Easter would make no meaning if followers of Jesus Christ fail to emulate his life and teachings.
He thanks the Christian community for its constant prayers and support for the government, and assures them and people of the State that the Samuel Ortom administration would not fail them in the discharge of its responsibilities.
